Dear Virginia Activity Professionals,

Thank you visiting the Virginia Association of Activity Professionals website. I hope that you will find information that will help you in your professional growth.

Are you new to the field of Activities? Maybe you are the only Activities person in your facility. Do you work with assisted living residents, nursing home residents, or maybe adult day care clients? Each one of these venues has its own unique set of regulations that must be followed to meet state and federal requirements. The VAAP seeks to provide support, networking and educational opportunities to help you in your career as you seek to provide the best quality of life for the residents in your care. You will find information on this website about upcoming conferences and workshops across Virginia which are specifically tailored to the needs of the Activity Professional. If you have any questions about anything pertaining to Activities, please feel free to call me, or the representative from your area, and we will be happy to answer your questions.

The Virginia Association of Activity Professionals is made up of 7 districts. Each district holds regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year. We encourage you to make contact with the representative from your local district and get to know the other activity professionals in your area. Networking locally about programs, entertainment, volunteers, restaurants, etc. can be very helpful to you as you plan your monthly calendars. If you have the best information and training, then your residents will benefit the most from the programs you provide.

As you read through the information on this website please consider becoming a member of the Virginia Association of Activity Professionals. There are many opportunities to increase your professionalism and knowledge by attending any of the VAAP workshops or our annual conference. VAAP members receive substantial discounts on the registration costs of these events. We can also provide information about becoming a nationally certified activity professional. You may also want to increase your professional skills by serving on a state-wide committee, or as a district representative or officer. You will find information about membership to VAAP through links on this website.

On behalf of the VAAP Board, thank you for visiting VAAPonline.
